KFM support donation to Ukrainian hospitals

In August 2022, KFM's Logistics team supported UK charity, British-Ukrainian Aid, with a donation of medical consumables for distribution to hospitals and treatment facilities across Ukraine, with the support of their partners White Eagle Appeal.

The donation, which included items such as hand sanitisers, wound care packs and gloves, were items identified by KFM's Logistics team, as either slightly defective, recently expired or excess stock from the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, these items could not be used by KFM, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust nor distributed to any other NHS organisations or Trusts and would therefore end up as waste. KFM liaised with British-Ukrainian Aid, who confirmed that these products would provide critical support and would be accepted by local civilians and healthcare professionals in Ukraine, who were desperately running low on stock.

Simonas Petrasiunas, Logistics Manager at KFM, said: "The Logistics team were very happy to make this donation happen. We were able to support Ukraine during their hardest time with crucial medical consumables, to help treat people injured during the ongoing conflict. Simultaneously, the consumables didn't go to waste and we gained some free space in our warehouse which will be used to further support the Trust. It was a very fulfilling project and our team are looking forward to participating in further charitable projects like this."

Up to 60 pallets were loaded with medical consumables, filling one and a half 28 tonne lorries. The goods reached the sorting centre in Lviv, Ukraine, ready for distribution, including 10 pallets dispersed to Zaporizhzhia, one of the front line combat regions in Ukraine.
