KFM, SLE and Vanguard Win ‘Procurement Project of the Year’ Award and also Receive High Commendation for ‘Most Effective Contribution to Patient Safety’ at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2023!
KFM, alongside SLE and Vanguard Medical, have won the ‘Procurement Project of the Year’ award, at this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) Partnership Awards 2023. The win was for the project ‘Delivering the UK’s first fully crash-tested transport trolley system for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCH)’.
Winners and those highly commended in a total of 21 categories were announced during a ceremony at Evolution London, on 23 March 2023, hosted by comedian Joel Dommett.
The event was attended by over 900 guests, bringing together national healthcare leaders and professionals from both the NHS and private sector as well as figures from non-clinical backgrounds to celebrate the crucial contributions of the private and third sector within the NHS. The evening celebrated the achievements of a total of 141 finalists.
This incredible project highlights how KFM partnered with two UK suppliers, SLE and Vanguard Medical, to deliver a bespoke and innovative solution for the replacement of four neonatal transport incubator trolleys for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), alongside clinical and MEMS teams at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Denmark Hill.
This partnership resulted in the successful design and development of the UK’s first fully crash tested transport trolley system for critically ill neonates. This fully specified product, fills a gap in the market and is directly impacting positively on patient safety and clinical efficiency with best practice shared across the market and implemented in other NHS organisations.
Andy Lockwood, Managing Director at KFM, said: “Winning the HSJ Procurement Project of the Year Award is a real honour and testimony to the skills, dedication and collaborative efforts of not only the KFM Team, but SLE, Vanguard and the clinical and MEMS teams at KCH. We are committed to delivering improved outcomes for patients, and to be chosen among the other brilliant nominees is a fantastic achievement. Well done Team KFM - a true example of 'Working Together, Gets It Done'!”
The judges said “This was a truly inspiring project which clearly demonstrated what great procurement is about. The project showed how, when engaged early, procurement can support the organisation in delivering innovative solutions. This solution also provided significant savings in terms of clinician’s time, enabling more focus on the patients.”
