KFM improve patient care with Renal Dialysis support

The KFM Logistics team completed their first delivery of dialysis equipment to a patient's home in mid-May.

The team contact the patient to confirm the best time to deliver the machine; they then collect it on that day and deliver to the patient's home; usually taking away an older machine.

The Technician will be on-site to uninstall or install the new equipment.

Each time KFM do this piece of work for KCH we are making a CIP/cost avoidance of £500.00.

At the moment KFM have around 40 community installations and 6 hospital-based setups spread across South London and North Kent.

Farman Syed, Technical Operations Manager in Renal and Dental Services, said: “Equipment logistics play a vital role in managing medical devices spread across the community. It helps us as a technical team deliver the best outcome for patients. KFM logistics not only provided us with the responsive service needed but also reduced our courier bill for all non-complex movements.”

Gavin Jones, Head of Logistics and Armed Forces Champion, added: “I’m very pleased to say that the efforts of our team have already saved Managed Services £2,000 in delivery and removal charges since March 2022. I’m hopeful that our support to dialysis equipment use will further improve as we seek to find a safe solution to move equipment up narrow staircases. Thanks also to Chloe Metcalfe for designing an eForm the Technicians can use to bid for logistic support. The system is working well and mitigates the risk of time-sensitive tasks such as these being neglected”.
